Personal History Kevin was born in the sickbay of a Starfleet vessel to his mother Bethany, an engineering officer, and his father William, a civilian physician. The first years of his life where very happy as the family lived together on the starship. However, when his mother was reassigned to another ship that frequently found itself in dangerous situations, his father took a hospital job in Copernicus City and moved to Luna with the boy.

This precaution turned out to be wise, because when Kevin was only 6 years old, his mother’s ship was lost during the battle of Wolf 359. The death affected both father and son, and drew them closer for a time. So much so that Kevin began to pursue an interest in medicine, and when the time came he enrolled in Starfleet Medical as a way to honor both of his parents.

It wasn’t long before Kevin realized he had made the correct choice. He excelled at his studies and went on to graduate with honors. When he accepted his first posting, his father argued that he could be of more use on a Starbase or planetary facility, but Kevin insisted on traveling to find those who needed his help ‘out there’. Though far from estranged, the decision to explore the unknown instead of remaining in relative safety has made their relationship cooler than it once had been.

Once in the field, Dr. Kevin Blackwell continued to excel as he had done at the Academy. Personable and proficient, he was soon promoted to Assistant Chief Medical Officer. While he has been unable (and unwilling) to forge any serious romantic relationships, he is a true friend and caring healer. He has served with distinction and is looking forward to taking on more responsibility.
